Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions before applying.

Educational Qualification

The qualification varies depending on the trade.

Candidates possessing BE/B.Tech, MBA, MCA, CA, LLB, or other higher professional qualifications are not eligible for this apprenticeship recruitment.

Age Limit

The age limit is calculated as on 30 June 2026.

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 24 Years

Age relaxation is available as per Government rules.

  • OBC (NCL): 3 Years
  • SC/ST: 5 Years
  • PwBD: Up to 10 Years (depending on category)

The date of birth mentioned in the Class 10 certificate will be considered final for age verification.

Selection Process

Merit List

Candidates are shortlisted purely based on the percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed educational qualification.

Tie-Breaking Rule

If two candidates obtain the same percentage, preference will be given to the older candidate. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate with higher marks in Class 10 will be ranked higher.

Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification at the respective refinery.

Medical Examination

Candidates must qualify the prescribed medical fitness test before final engagement.

Final Engagement

Candidates clearing all stages will receive the apprenticeship offer.

Since there is no written exam, candidates with higher academic marks have a significant advantage in the selection process.

Stipend & Benefits

Selected apprentices will receive a stipend according to the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 and IOCL guidelines.

Although the notification does not specify the exact monthly stipend amount, selected candidates will receive:

  • Monthly stipend as per apprenticeship rules

How to Apply Online

The application process consists of two mandatory steps.

Step 1 – Register on NAPS or NATS

Candidates applying for Trade Apprentice posts should register through the NAPS Portal, while candidates applying for Technician Apprentice posts should register through the NATS Portal using the relevant refinery establishment ID.

Step 2 – Submit Microsoft Form

After successfully registering on NAPS/NATS, candidates must fill in the Microsoft Form available on the IOCL website for their chosen refinery unit.

Both steps are mandatory. Completing only one step will result in rejection of the application.

Complete Application Process

  2. Read the notification carefully.
  3. Register on NAPS or NATS.
  4. Apply for the relevant refinery and trade.
